Plot summary
Young women in an Old West town are dying of a wasting disease. Dr. John Carter and Dolores, his daughter, have spent hours tending patients, and Preacher Dan Young keeps a nightlong vigil over Cora. After a scream, Cora is dead, the window of her room open, and two small wounds mark her throat. The Carters' neighbor Buffer has dammed a stream on their ranch and his men beat anyone who complains. Dolores hangs up Gun Wanted posters, offering a hundred dollars to whoever guns down the murderer.

- Curse of the Undead began as a gag idea by husband-and-wife team Edward and Mildred Dein. Universal-International producer Joseph Gershenson heard about it from his wife and phoned Edward Dein, saying the good stuff they never gave him and that he wanted to make the picture.
- Curse of the Undead was later called the first Gothic Western film. It was more Gothic than the campier 1966 films Billy the Kid Versus Dracula and Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter, and several Italian Spaghetti Western films later fell into the Gothic genre.
