Godmonster of Indian Flats (1973) on Netflix

Plot summary

Clemens, a scientist, has come to a mining town in northern Nevada to study its mines and the local legend of a giant monster said to have haunted the area long ago. A rancher named Eddie finds a sheep embryo, large and mutated, in an old mine, and Clemens takes it back to his laboratory with his assistant Mariposa. The mine releases phosphorus vapors that may have caused the mutation, and the embryo, kept in an incubation chamber, becomes an eight-foot-tall mutant sheep. In town, Barnstable, a wealthy Black man from the East Coast, is buying property for mining on behalf of his employer, Rupert Reich. Mayor Charles Silverdale wants the town kept for Old West tourism, blocks the deal, then blames Barnstable for a dog's death and turns a crowd against him.
