Plot summary
Ten years after her father the king rode off and never returned, Snow White lives shut inside the palace while her stepmother, Queen Clementianna, rules the kingdom. On her eighteenth birthday, with the servants' encouragement, she leaves the castle for the first time. In the forest she meets Prince Alcott of Valencia and his valet Charles Renbock, freshly robbed by bandits on stilts. Snow White goes on to the village, where the people are destitute under the Queen's taxes. The Queen, whose treasury is nearly empty, has met Alcott and wants a wedding to restore her finances, so she stages a ball to win him. Snow White intends to appear there uninvited and ask the prince for help in taking back the kingdom.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Mirror Mirror (2012)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Lily Collins was cast as Snow White within 24 hours of meeting director Tarsem Singh. Saoirse Ronan had been considered but the age gap with Armie Hammer (he was 25, she 17) was too wide, and Felicity Jones turned the part down.
- The song "I Believe in Love" was written in 1970 by singer-songwriter Nina Hart, who performed it in Miloš Forman's film Taking Off. Tarsem Singh chose it for Mirror Mirror's Bollywood-style finale, unaware it had been in a film before, because his daughter had liked it.
- Armie Hammer was cast as Prince Alcott, the prince drawn first to the Queen and then to Snow White, beating out James McAvoy and Alex Pettyfer for the role.
- Mirror Mirror was the last film that Tarsem Singh's regular costume designer, Eiko Ishioka, worked on before she died.
