Biography

Nick Mohammed is a British actor, comedian and writer from Leeds, England, who first worked as a close-up magician at hotels and weddings. He developed the character Mr Swallow, a self-important magician, while performing with Cambridge Footlights, and performed him across radio, theater and television. He created, wrote and starred in the comedy series Intelligence, and from 2020 to 2023 he played Nate Shelley in Ted Lasso, a role that brought him two Primetime Emmy nominations and a Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble in 2022. On screen he voiced Piglet in Christopher Robin (2018) and appeared in Maggie Moore(s) (2023) and Deep Cover (2025). His other work includes writing and starring in the BBC Radio 4 comedy Detective Sergeant Nick Mohammed and the Channel 4 pilot The Mr Swallow Show, and he opened A Christmas Carol(ish) in London's West End in 2024.

    Mohammed turned down a place at the University of Cambridge and instead took a geophysics degree at Durham University, where he failed twice to get into the Durham Revue and performed on the local comedy circuit instead.
