Plot summary
Sumner Murdock's oil company drills in the Arctic, work that Michael Baldwin proposed and runs. The blasting at Site A yields nothing, and Murdock warns Michael that his job depends on results. Ed, Santa Claus's chief elf, tells Michael that the dynamiting is breaking up North Pole City and that a single blast at Site B would wipe it out. Michael takes the warning for a prank. Ed offers the family a ride to North Pole City; Michael stays for a meeting, and Claudia and the children go.
