Plot summary
The Air Ministry calls Hugh Drummond in after a run of accidents strikes the people and companies building SST1, the world's first supersonic airliner. One man is killed by an air stewardess, and two women carry out sabotage during separate tests of the aircraft. With Flicky, an American blonde, at his side, Drummond traces the trouble to Carl Petersen, a criminal mastermind who profits by eight million pounds if the airliner runs late. Petersen's weapons are beautiful girls with electronic brains, robots that he aims at people and objects by way of infrasound, sound pitched too low for the human ear to pick up.
