Biography

Adrienne Posta is a British actress and singer who became prominent in the 1960s and 1970s, and she took the surname Posta in 1966. Born in London, she built a screen career with films including To Sir, with Love (1967), Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush and Up the Junction (both 1968), Spring and Port Wine (1970), Up Pompeii (1971) and Carry On Behind (1975). Her television work ranged from playing a stripper in the first Budgie episode in 1971 to the 1973 BBC 1 series It's Lulu, where she sang, danced and acted alongside Lulu and Roger Kitter. She recorded singles as well, among them The Winds that Blow on Decca Records in 1965. She also voiced characters in animated shows such as 64 Zoo Lane and Angelina Ballerina. She has also taught in the Midlands and at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, and the Music Hall Guild counts her among its honorary patrons.
