Plot summary
In Venice Beach, a lonely young Shaggy Rogers takes in a talking stray Great Dane and calls him Scooby-Doo. On Halloween night he and Scooby meet Fred Jones, Daphne Blake and Velma Dinkley, and after catching a thief disguised as a ghost in a haunted house, the group forms Mystery Inc. Ten years and hundreds of cases later, an investor meeting with Simon Cowell goes badly when he refuses to work with a team that puts friendship before results, and Scooby and Shaggy walk out. At a bowling alley that night, small robots called Rottens attack them; Dee Dee Skyes, the masked hero Blue Falcon and the robot dog Dynomutt pull them clear. The Rottens serve a criminal named Dick Dastardly, who wants Scooby.

- Scoob! Holiday Haunt, a Christmas prequel with a reported $40 million budget, was canceled by Warner Bros. Discovery in August 2022 as cost-cutting. Director Tony Cervone said on the day of the cancellation that it was "practically finished", and it was completed anyway, with the studio having no plans to release it.
- Scoob! began development as a much broader Hanna-Barbera crossover; director Tony Cervone said the early version was "much more like Hanna-Barbera Avengers", but the filmmakers ended up caring only about Scooby and Shaggy, who "had their own gravity".
- Matthew Lillard and Grey Griffin, the regular voices of Shaggy and Daphne, both expressed disappointment that their roles were recast for Scoob!. Lillard wished the film good luck, while Griffin held no hard feelings toward Amanda Seyfried or her performance.
- Zac Efron's casting as Fred in Scoob! was a rare occasion in which Fred was not voiced by Frank Welker, who has played the character in most incarnations since Scooby-Doo debuted in 1969.
