Biography
Wolfgang Preiss was a German actor of stage, film and television. Born in Nuremberg, he took private acting lessons from Hans Schlenck and began his stage career in Munich in 1932. His first film role came in 1942 in Die große Liebe. After the Second World War he went back to the stage and, from 1949, spent years dubbing foreign movies into German. He returned to the screen in Canaris in 1954, and his performance as Claus von Stauffenberg in The Plot to Assassinate Hitler brought him public attention and a 1956 Federal Film Award. (1966), Anzio (1968), Raid on Rommel (1971), A Bridge Too Far (1977) and The Boys from Brazil (1978).
