Plot summary
Pavia, the end of the 1970s. Nino Monti is a tax consultant with a wife, Teresa. One day he pays the bus ticket of a woman who has no change and looks poor and ill. That evening she wants to give him back the 100 lire and tells him her name: Anna Brigatti, the sweetheart of his youth. He becomes obsessed with her, to Teresa's horror. He sees pictures of her as she was when young and beautiful, and he tries to see her again.
