Biography

Michiel Huisman is a Dutch actor and musician who began his music career singing and playing guitar with the band Fontane, whose early singles included one from the soundtrack of Costa! (2001). Acting began in 1998 on the Dutch serial Goede tijden, slechte tijden, and he went on to lead Dutch films such as Phileine Says Sorry and Floris, while taking a small part in Paul Verhoeven's Black Book (2006). Dutch television work included De co-assistent and Bloedverwanten. A guest role on the British series Dalziel and Pascoe in 2006 led to international jobs, among them Sonny in HBO's Treme and Daario Naharis in Game of Thrones, a part he took over from Ed Skrein before becoming a series regular. He appeared in the Academy Award-nominated Wild, took the lead in The Age of Adaline, and starred in The Ottoman Lieutenant and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.
