Britt Ekland

Biography

Britt Ekland is a Swedish actress who appeared in many films during the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Stockholm, she left school as a teenager to tour with a theater company and was discovered by a talent agent in Italy. After small Swedish film parts, she landed a supporting role in the Western Advance to the Rear (1964). She earned critical acclaim as an Amish girl turned burlesque dancer in The Night They Raided Minsky's (1968). Her role opposite Michael Caine in the crime film Get Carter (1971) made her a sex symbol, and she appeared in horror films such as Asylum (1972) and The Wicker Man (1973). She played Bond girl Mary Goodnight in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) and took a comedy part in Royal Flash (1975). Later credits include Scandal (1989). Her later career has centered on stage, television, pantomimes, and reality shows, and she wrote the autobiography True Britt.
