Did you know?!

  1. First role

Nesbitt made his first professional stage appearance as Keith in the musical Up on the Roof. The show played at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth, then moved to the London West End.

  2. A role that slipped away

ITV executives cast Nesbitt as Jack Parlabane in their September 2004 adaptation of Christopher Brookmyre's Quite Ugly One Morning, though the producers had wanted Scottish actor Douglas Henshall for the Glaswegian role.

  3. Getting ready for a role

For the part of Murphy, Nesbitt grew a handlebar mustache and brought in a personal trainer, toning down the "cheeky chappie" persona audiences knew from his roles. Three times a week he boxed and did circuits and weights with the trainer.
