Plot summary
Deep in the mountains, the horse breaker Jeff Hassard and his son Ring keep to a hidden eyrie, staying out of sight because Jeff is hunted for a killing he did not do. Their isolation ends when a lost young woman, Riley Martin, reaches them; she is a lawyer, and she finds that Ring has never been close to a woman before. When Jeff is hurt, Ring has to go down into town for help, and there he runs afoul of horse thieves and of the law that still wants his father. Riley sets to work to clear the Hassard name, though other men would rather the two of them were dead.
