Grady Sutton
Biography
Grady Sutton was an American character actor whose film and television work spanned the 1920s to the 1970s. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and raised in Florida. His career began in the silent era, and he later moved into sound pictures by way of a series of college shorts known as The Boy Friends. Sutton then settled into supporting parts, often cast as a dimwitted country boy. He was best known for his role as Frank Dowling, who danced with Katharine Hepburn in Alice Adams (1935), and for acting opposite W.C. Fields, including in The Pharmacist (1933) and The Bank Dick (1940). He also did television work, including an episode of The Odd Couple and some commercials. He continued working through the 1950s and 1960s, retired from acting in 1979, and died in 1995.
