Biography

An American actress, Elizabeth Mitchell was born in Los Angeles and trained at Stephens College and the British American Drama Academy before performing with the Dallas Theater Center and Encore Theater. Her early television work included the soap opera Loving from 1994 until 1995, and she went on to appear in films such as Gia (1998), Frequency (2000), and Nurse Betty (2000). She played Carol Newman in The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and its sequel The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, and later appeared in Running Scared (2006), The Purge: Election Year (2016), and Queen Bees (2021). On television, she had a recurring role on ER and starred as Juliet Burke on Lost, earning a Primetime Emmy nomination and a Saturn Award. She also led V and Revolution, and joined Dead of Summer and The Santa Clauses, the latter earning her a Children's and Family Emmy nomination.
