Plot summary

Olivia Bennett teaches dance in New York City after a career as a ballerina, and she has not dated since her husband Nathan died eight years ago. Her daughter Maeryn has no memory of her father. Edward Taylor, a small business consultant, is on the road constantly, calls himself technically homeless, and has tried and failed before to give himself to one person in one place. The two meet at the holidays when both stop to help Gertrude, an elderly woman who has lost eighty dollars, four twenty dollar bills she had saved for Christmas gifts. Across the season they keep crossing paths, and each admits a pull toward the other. Both have to decide whether they are ready for a relationship.
