Jay Thomas
Biography
Jay Thomas was an American actor, comedian, and radio host who died in 2017. Born in Kermit, Texas, and raised in New Orleans, he began in radio in the 1970s, working at stations in New York and later Los Angeles, where he hosted a top-rated morning show on KPWR until 1993. On television, he played Remo DaVinci on Mork & Mindy from 1979 to 1981, Eddie LeBec on Cheers from 1987 to 1989, and Jack Stein on Love & War from 1992 to 1995. He won Primetime Emmy Awards in 1990 and 1991 for his guest role as Jerry Gold on Murphy Brown. His films included Mr. Holland's Opus (1995) and Killing Mr. Griffin (1997), and he played Easter Bunny in The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006). He also hosted The Jay Thomas Show on SiriusXM and made annual Christmas appearances on Late Show with David Letterman.
