Big break
Dorn was the last main actor cast in Star Trek: The Next Generation. For his audition, he stayed away from the other actors and kept quiet during his interview, copying the character's personality.
First role
Michael Dorn made his first on-screen appearance in Rocky, playing the bodyguard of Apollo Creed in a role that went uncredited.
Early training
A producer on W.E.B. was impressed by Dorn's work and introduced him to an agent, who led him to acting teacher Charles E. Conrad. Dorn spent six months studying with Conrad before he landed a regular role on CHiPs.
Behind the camera
Michael Dorn was behind the camera for several Star Trek episodes, including "In the Cards", "Inquisition", and "When It Rains..." from Deep Space Nine, as well as "Two Days and Two Nights" from Enterprise.
A role that slipped away
In 2011, Dorn was reported to have the lead in Harry Lennix's Henry IV adaptation, H4, and he filmed all of it. Later re-shoots required him, but scheduling made him unavailable, so Lennix took the part himself.
Behind the camera
In March 2023, Dorn was named as the writer of a comic about Steel, the character he had voiced in Superman: The Animated Series. Sami Basri drew the art for Steelworks #1, which came out on June 6, 2023.
