David Horne

Biography

David Edgar Alderson Horne was an English actor who worked on the stage and in films. He was born on 14 July 1898 in Balcombe, Sussex, and died in 1970. His early career in the theater was a distinguished one, and he did not start working in films until the 1930s. On screen he was generally seen portraying pompous and self-satisfied characters. He never rose to star level in the cinema, but he became an indispensable character actor who took on many utility roles, among them lawyers, doctors, desk clerks, newspaper editors and police officials. He played many such parts over the years, and he kept working in the theater up to the time of his death.
