Plot summary
In the 1880s, Jonathan Tibbs comes from an English family of gunsmiths but would rather build gadgets, among them a steam-powered horseless carriage. Warned that he will lose his inheritance unless he joins the firm, he finds the business struggling and decides it needs wider sales. A newspaper account of the many guns in the American West sends him there, and he lands in the lawless town of Fractured Jaw. His wrist-mounted Derringer makes him look like a fast draw, and he is pulled into a range war between two cattle outfits, the Box T and the Lazy S, that both claim the only water. When he stands up to their hired gunmen, the town appoints him sheriff. Kate, who owns the hotel, backs his attempts to clean up Fractured Jaw.
