Biography

Clint Walker was an American actor who found stardom as Cheyenne Bodie in the Western series Cheyenne. Born in Hartford, Illinois, he entered Hollywood with a part in Cecil B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments (1956). His Westerns included Fort Dobbs (1958), Yellowstone Kelly (1959), The Night of the Grizzly (1966) and More Dead Than Alive (1969), while Send Me No Flowers (1964) gave him a comedic role. His largest feature hit was the war drama The Dirty Dozen (1967), where he played the meek convict Samson Posey, while Frank Sinatra gave him the lead in None but the Brave (1965). He later took supporting parts in the comic Western Sam Whiskey (1969) and in Pancho Villa (1972). Television work included the made-for-television films Yuma (1971) and Killdozer (1974). He also recorded the album Inspiration in 1959, and his honors included a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and the 1997 Golden Boot Award. He died in 2018.

Walker had a pleasant baritone singing voice that was sometimes used on the series, which led Warner Brothers to make an album of him singing traditional songs and ballads.
Big break
Walker's good looks and imposing physique helped him get an audition, and that audition led to him winning the lead part in the TV series Cheyenne.
Behind the camera
Through James Drury, a mutual friend, Walker came to know western author Kirby Jonas. Their two years of work together on a Walker storyline about gold and the Yaqui produced the 2003 Western novel Yaqui Gold.
