Plot summary

Pancho Villa, once a mighty revolutionary, has lost his influence, and his remaining men and Scotty, his right hand, rescue him as he is being taken to Mexico City to be executed. His troops need arms and rifles, so Villa deals with McDermott, an adventurer from Columbus, New Mexico, who promises him weapons and ammunition. The deal turns into a double-cross. Villa and Scotty, his American lieutenant, look toward Columbus, where McDermott comes from and where Colonel Wilcox, a stickler for detail, commands the US Army garrison across the border. Scotty's wife, Flo, is on the scene, and the two of them bicker.
