Bud Osborne
Biography
Bud Osborne was an American actor whose screen work ran almost wholly to westerns. A Knox County, Texas, native, he spent time as an Oklahoma rancher and performed with the 101 Ranch Show before a year with Buffalo Bill's Wild West show in 1912. Joining Thomas H. Ince's company in 1915, he became known for driving stagecoaches, which made him a frequent hire from his first film in 1912 until the early 1950s. Among more than 600 film and television appearances made between 1912 and 1963 were the Ed Wood features Jail Bait (1954), Night of the Ghouls (1959) and Bride of the Monster (1955). He also played a big-game hunter in The Adventures of Captain Africa (1955), did stunt work in Return of the Bad Men (1948), and took small roles in television westerns including Bonanza, Rawhide and The Lone Ranger. His final part came in a 1963 Gunsmoke episode, and he died in 1964.
