Dolores Fuller
Biography
Dolores Fuller was an American actress and songwriter who first appeared on screen as a child in Frank Capra's It Happened One Night (1934). She went on to lead and supporting roles in Glen or Glenda (1953), Jail Bait (1954), and Bride of the Monster (1955), all written and directed by Ed Wood, and also acted in Mesa of Lost Women (1953), The Blue Gardenia (1953), and The Opposite Sex (1956), with later parts in The Ironbound Vampire (1997) and Dimensions in Fear (1998). Her television work included Queen for a Day, The Dinah Shore Show, and an episode of It's a Great Life. After a producer introduced her to a music publisher, she teamed with composer Ben Weisman and co-wrote Rock-A-Hula Baby for Blue Hawaii; Presley went on to record about twelve of her songs, among them I Got Lucky and Spinout. Nat King Cole and Peggy Lee also recorded her material.

Fuller had hoped to act in Blue Hawaii, the Elvis Presley movie that producer Hal Wallis was making. Instead, Wallis introduced her to Hill & Range, the publisher that supplied Presley with songs, and she began writing songs.

Fuller was 10 years old when she made her first screen appearance, a brief part in Frank Capra's It Happened One Night.
Big break
Fuller first crossed paths with Ed Wood at a casting call she went to with a friend. The movie, Behind Locked Doors, was one he was meant to direct, but he never did.
Behind the camera
Dolores Fuller edited and scored Crossroads of Laredo, a short western that Ed Wood had started in the 1940s but left unfinished, and she did this work near the end of her life.
