Bonita Granville
Biography
Bonita Granville was an American character actress and producer who entered show business at age three, performing on stage as the child of vaudeville entertainers. She made her screen debut at nine in Westward Passage (1932), then had a small role in the Oscar-winning Cavalcade (1933). Her performance as the malicious child in These Three (1936) brought an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress when she was fourteen. Granville became known for playing the title sleuth in the Nancy Drew mystery series, including Nancy Drew... Detective (1938) and Nancy Drew... Trouble Shooter (1939). She also appeared in Merrily We Live (1938), The Mortal Storm (1940), The Glass Key (1942), and Now, Voyager (1942). Later she worked as a producer on projects featuring Lassie and the Lone Ranger, and she acted in The Lone Ranger (1956) and The Legend of the Lone Ranger (1981). The Hollywood Walk of Fame honored her with a star in 1960.
