Plot summary
Joe Morgan arrives in Los Angeles from New York with no money and no job. Max, whose brother knew Morgan in New York, cannot hire him but points him toward a theater where an ice show stars Roberta Elva. There the assistant Harry Wheeler introduces Morgan to the producer and owner Frank Leonard, who puts him to work selling peanuts. Morgan watches Roberta perform and is taken with her; when he tries to speak to her after the show, Leonard drives her away, and Harry explains that the two are married. Leonard is unhappy with Roberta's routine, and Morgan's suggestion of a new act, Roberta leaping through a circle of long knives, wins him a managerial post.
