Plot summary
Johnny Dixon carries a war head injury that leaves him prone to nervous breakdowns, and his roommate and fellow veteran Mike Carr nurses him through them. Johnny had been dating Estelle Mitchell until he learned she saw other men; he broke it off and fell for her twin sister Linda instead. Estelle wants Johnny back and works to split the couple, and she is also seeing Mike, who finds her hard to resist. When the twins quarrel over Johnny, Linda sets out to see him, and Mike makes sure Estelle does not reach him first. Estelle later telephones Mike: Linda never came home, and the police have been told she is missing. Mike finds Johnny drunk, insisting Linda left him after an argument and drove off in a taxi.
