Plot summary
Andy Hardy comes home to Carvel after two years of Army service, and his parents, Judge Hardy and Emily, wait eagerly for him. They do not know that he is looking to get back with Kay Wilson, the sweetheart he met at Wainwright College before the war. He means to return there to finish his studies and to see her as soon as he can, and he hopes in time to ask for her hand in marriage. At the Carvel country club, where Isobel Gonzales sings regularly, she and Andy are introduced to each other, and she falls for him. Andy, who usually notices girls, hardly notices her.
