Allen Leech
Biography
Allen Leech is an Irish actor who made his professional stage debut at the Gate Theatre in a 1998 production of A Streetcar Named Desire and became widely known as Tom Branson in the period drama Downton Abbey. He was born in Killiney, County Dublin. His first major screen role was Vincent Cusack in Cowboys & Angels (2004), and his part as Mo Chara in Man About Dog (2004) brought him a nomination from the Irish Film & Television Awards. He also appeared in Love Is the Drug, Legend, The Tudors and Rome, where he played Marcus Agrippa, and in The Sweeney (2012) and The Imitation Game (2014) as the spy John Cairncross. His role as Paul Prenter in Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) earned him a nomination at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and he played Tom Branson again in Downton Abbey (2019), Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022) and Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale (2025).

Leech got his first professional stage role in 1998, in a production of A Streetcar Named Desire at the Gate. He played the gentleman caller to Frances McDormand's Blanche Dubois, and as a naive 16-year-old he saw the Coen brothers backstage.
