Plot summary
Archive footage and performances by five actresses carry Andrea Dworkin's story from a young woman absorbed in poetry and politics, through her marriage in Amsterdam, to the public figure she became. Home recordings of Dworkin with her family, her television appearances, her friendship with Allen Ginsberg and her collaboration with Catharine A. MacKinnon feed the portrait, and her writing runs through it. Portions of the film are built from Dworkin's own words, and the portrait is of a second-wave feminist who argued for justice and equality for women. It reaches her later years with John Stoltenberg. The documentary also turns to feminist questions of the present day, among them the killings of Sarah Everard and Sabina Nessa.
