Plot summary
Ben-Hur Marcel is a garage mechanic who repairs carts in Rahatlocum, a Roman colony in North Africa where Julius Caesar has come to spend an expensive holiday. The small people of the colony are restless, and Marcel, also known as Aminemephet, becomes their unwilling representative against the Roman army. He takes no interest in any of it, minding the drape of his toga and his own hairstyle, yet he is caught up in a plot against Caesar. His friend Paulus has talent he can count on.

SPOILER
The film ends with Ben-Hur Marcel's involuntary, ironic retort that the birth of a child in a stable won't change the face of the world, after which the first three fortissimo notes of Miklós Rózsa's music for William Wyler's Ben-Hur (1959) are heard.
