Plot summary
Kelly and Mac Radner are preparing for a second baby and hope to sell their house to the Baiers family, though their realtor reminds them the sale sits in escrow for thirty days. Freshmen Shelby, Beth and Nora learn that sororities are barred from hosting parties, so the three start their own, Kappa Nu. Teddy Sanders has a criminal record and cannot land a decent job; when his friend Pete asks him to move out, he returns to the old fraternity house next door to the Radners and meets the girls, who want to rent it but cannot afford it. He offers to run their parties so they can raise the rent money. Mac and Kelly, afraid the sorority will scare off the Baiers, ask Shelby to hold off, and she refuses.

- Goldberg said he read a list of feminist essays as part of his research for the script, and two female comedians, Amanda Lund and Maria Blasucci, were brought on board to punch up the jokes, but director Stoller explained that Writers Guild stipulations left them without writing credits.
- During post-production the scenes of Lena Dunham, LL Cool J and Cameron Dallas were all cut from the film; in her cut scene Dunham played Joan of Arc, and LL Cool J played Beth's father.
