Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Before making The Sack Lunch Bunch, John Mulaney and co-writer Marika Sawyer had tried other children-based comedy ideas: a Weekend Update segment called "Lil Weekend Update" anchored entirely by kids, and a Mulaney-written stand-up special performed by a ten-year-old. Neither came to fruition.
