Plot summary
Mitchie Torres and her mother Connie arrive at Camp Rock for another summer and find fewer campers than before. Across the lake, Camp Star has opened, founded by Axel Turner, whom Camp Rock's director Brown Cesario once kicked out of his band. Camp Star invites everyone to a bonfire that proves to be an elaborate performance meant to lure campers and counselors away, and several make the switch. Short on staff, Brown plans to close camp, but Mitchie and her friends take on counselor roles to keep it open. Axel proposes a televised battle of the bands decided by public vote, and Mitchie agrees. Overhearing Brown say a loss could shut Camp Rock for good, she pushes everyone to prepare, which frustrates Shane Gray, who came back hoping to spend the summer with her.
