Plot summary
In a hidden world inside a toy factory, dolls that come out imperfect fall through a tunnel into Uglyville. Moxy, who lives there, longs for the Big World and for a child to love her. Mayor Ox tells her that place is a myth. She climbs the tunnel with Lucky Bat, Wage, Ugly Dog and Babo, and the group reaches the Institute of Perfection, where Lou leads the Perfect Dolls. Lou says the Gauntlet, a course built like a human house, decides which dolls may go through the portal. He lets the visitors train. Mandy, a Perfect Doll with poor eyesight who avoids wearing glasses, sympathizes with them and gives pointers.

- Rapper Pitbull was set to record a parody of Daryl Hall and John Oates' "You Make My Dreams" for UglyDolls, but his vocals were scrapped because he broke the fourth wall as his character Uglydog; Pentatonix got the final version instead, and Pitbull's original "Dreams Come True" survives only on DJ promotional record pools.
- On April 25, 2026, a series made with generative AI was launched on UglyDolls' YouTube channel, which caused controversy.
- UglyDolls, released in 2019, was the last film directed by Kelly Asbury, who died from cancer in June 2020.
