Plot summary
Sales have dried up for Maurice and Dave, who work the door-to-door meat route in Los Angeles. Their boss warns they are about to be fired, and both need the money: Maurice for his final semester of acupuncture school, Dave for his daughter's birthday gift. Their last chance is a set of cards naming the company's best buyers, but Dave loses all of them except one, which belongs to Loridonna. When they call on her, she is on the line with Suzanne, a friend who has swallowed a fish. Loridonna says Dave is a doctor and hands him the phone, and while he talks to Suzanne she shows her interest in Maurice. The call interrupts the signing, so the two men offer to drive Loridonna to Suzanne's house, hoping to close the sale.
