Lisa Jane Persky
Biography
Lisa Jane Persky is an American actress who has also worked as a journalist, author, artist and photographer. She studied graphic design at the High School of Art and Design, and the playwright H.M. Koutoukas, a neighbor, wrote Grandmother Is in the Strawberry Patch for her at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club. She appeared in Tom Eyen's Women Behind Bars in 1976, reached Broadway in Steaming, and won Best Actress awards from Drama-Logue and LA Weekly for These Men and Hearts on Fire. Her breakout screen performance came in The Great Santini (1979), as Robert Duvall's daughter, and her other films include The Cotton Club (1984), The Big Easy (1986), Peggy Sue Got Married (1986), Coneheads (1993) and When Harry Met Sally... (1989). On television she had a recurring role on Private Eye. In 2010 she became a founding editor at the Los Angeles Review of Books, and earlier she wrote for New York Rocker magazine.
