Plot summary

Grace Thomas, nine years old, loves baking at her grandparents' bakery in Bentwick, Massachusetts. She and her best friends Ella and Maddy start a small cupcake business so Grace can save up for a new bicycle, and it becomes a success. Grace wants to keep it going through the summer, but her mother says they are going to Paris, where her aunt Sophie lives with her husband Bernard and their daughter Sylvie. Sophie is expecting a baby. Bernard owns a pâtisserie, and Grace works there; she finds working for her uncle hard, and Sylvie, who also works there, is uneasy about the extra company.
