Karen Strassman

Biography

Karen Strassman is an American actress known for English-language voice work in anime, animation, and video games. Born in Washington, D.C., she acted in school plays as a child and moved to France at 20, studying psychology and theater at CNSAD in Paris. Answering an advertisement for English-speaking actors there, she took an apprenticeship at Studio VO/VF and trained as a dialect coach, which led to voice-over work, French and English dubbing, and video game parts. She recorded French voice-over for Air France, Eurostar, and Disneyland Paris, and for audio tours at the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay. Her anime roles include Kallen Stadtfeld in Code Geass, Miyuki Takara in Lucky Star, Nina Fortner in Monster, Rider in Fate/stay night, and Sawako Yamanaka in K-On!, and she played Momo Hinamori and Soi Fon on Bleach. She has also voiced characters in the Shantae and Sonic the Hedgehog games, and in live action she played Jolene on Weeds.
