Plot summary
Gabriel spends his days temping in an office and his nights writing musicals for Broadway. When a number from his new show gets a critical reception, a theater colleague, Perry, tells him that he cannot write about a life he has not lived, so Gabriel goes to a gay bar. There Mark, a go-go dancer, catches his eye, and the two cross paths again on the subway that night. They go back to Gabriel's apartment intending to sleep together, but Gabriel's friend Katherine, an aspiring actress consumed by her part in a women's prison version of Salomé, turns up first. Gabriel's roommate Rich then arrives with his girlfriend Judy, and the two men argue over who gets the apartment.
