Mark Heap

Mark Heap is a British actor and comedian who began his career in the 1970s with the Medieval Players, a touring company that staged medieval and early modern theater and included stilt-walking, juggling and puppetry. He went on to work in street theater as one half of the duo The Two Marks. On television he played Brian Topp, the struggling artist in Spaced, and Dr. Alan Statham, a pompous doctor, in Green Wing. He was a regular performer on the sketch show Big Train and voiced Eric Feeble in Stressed Eric, an animated comedy. He later played Jim Bell, an eccentric neighbor, in Friday Night Dinner from 2011 to 2020. Other television roles included Charles Dickens in Desperate Romantics and Robert Greene in Upstart Crow. On film he had a supporting role in Confetti (2006), and he also appeared in the comedy Holy Flying Circus (2011). He took part in radio adaptations of Dead Souls and Good Omens.
