Plot summary
Patricia Foster is an industrial designer at Femina Cosmetics, which Sir Jason Fox owns. She is arrested after she attempts to sell a secret deodorant formula, and Femina dismisses her. Matthew Cutter, head of the rival firm May Fortune, gives her a job. Sir Jason sets up the arrangement so that Patricia can obtain a water-repellent hairspray formula from May Fortune. Dr Stuart Clancy, the company's chief chemist, is the inventor of the formula. Christopher White, who assists Cutter, tells Patricia that he too is secretly employed by Sir Jason. Patricia visits Su Ling, Clancy's secretary, at her apartment and finds her unconscious. Patricia takes a powder sample and a bottle of the hairspray. Christopher discovers her and says he will reveal to Sir Jason that she is really Felippa Fowler.
