Plot summary
Sisters Ingrid and Patti Randall live in Santa Monica with D.C., Patti's Siamese cat, who slips out each night at nine to roam the neighborhood. One of his rounds takes him into the apartment where two robbers are holding bank teller Margaret Miller hostage. Margaret leaves her wristwatch in place of his collar, with most of the word HELP scratched on it. Patti finds the watch and is sure it belongs to the missing woman, so she goes to the FBI. Agent Zeke Kelso is assigned to follow the cat and moves a surveillance team into the Randall house, though he is allergic to cat hair, a secret he kept from the agency. Patti wants a part in the search, and the nosy neighbor Mrs. MacDougall keeps watching the house.
