Plot summary
George Mallory is torn between his love for his wife Ruth and one remaining goal: to be the first climber to stand on the unclimbed summit of Mount Everest. In 1924 he sets out in gabardine and hobnailed boots, and is last seen alive roughly 800 feet below the top before clouds close over the mountain. Seventy-five years later, Conrad Anker finds Mallory's frozen body on Everest, his belongings intact and a photograph of Ruth missing. Anker returns with Leo Houlding to investigate the disappearance.
