Plot summary
Aaron Williams, the Bad Boy of Tennis, is an American orphan adopted by Richard Williams and raised with Venus and Serena. At the 1996 Wimbledon final his serve hits a line judge, and at the ceremony afterward he shoves the Duke of Kent and vanishes. Charles Poole, a British child prodigy, is pushed into tennis by a domineering mother who threatens to cut him off if he loses, and at 15 he tells talk show host Caspian Wint that he idolizes Williams. Williams surfaces in Sweden with an underwear line, runs out of money and ends up in a Swedish prison. Two weeks before the 2001 Championships, Poole tells a reporter he is the better player. The remark reaches Williams, who goes free under Swedish law and declares he will play. The All-England committee refuses to let him.
