Howie Mandel
Biography
Howie Mandel is a Canadian comedian, actor, producer, and television personality who began as a stand-up performer at clubs in Toronto, where a week-long booking in 1978 helped launch him. A set at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles led to regular work and appearances on the game show Make Me Laugh around 1979 and 1980. He gained national attention in the United States over six seasons of St. Elsewhere as Dr. Wayne Fiscus, and he supplied the voice of Gizmo in Gremlins and Gremlins 2: The New Batch. His film work includes A Fine Mess (1986), Little Monsters (1989), The Tangerine Bear (2000), Hansel & Gretel (2002), and Tribulation (2000). He created, produced, and voiced the animated series Bobby's World, hosted the American Deal or No Deal and its daytime and Canadian-English editions, and has judged America's Got Talent since 2010 and Canada's Got Talent since 2022.

Howie Mandel's signature stand-up stunt involved pulling a latex glove over his head and blowing it up through his nostrils until it flew off. The trick gave his 1986 comedy album Fits Like a Glove its title.
A change of course
Mandel was expelled from William Lyon Mackenzie Collegiate Institute, and afterward worked as a carpet salesman before performing stand-up at Yuk Yuk's in Toronto.
A first
Mandel replaced David Hasselhoff as a judge on NBC's America's Got Talent in 2010, and holds the longest tenure of any judge or host, spanning 17 consecutive seasons.
