Plot summary
Eight years in the Army end for Sergeant Chris Vaughn, and he goes back to the Kitsap County town where he grew up, hoping for a job at the cedar mill. Sheriff Stan Watkins tells him the mill closed three years earlier; the paychecks now come from the Wild Cherry Casino, opened by Jay Hamilton, his old school friend. After a football game with Ray Templeton and the old crowd, Hamilton invites them all to a night at the casino. There Chris finds Deni, a childhood friend, working as a stripper, and catches the craps dealer using loaded dice. The floor manager refuses to pay, and the argument becomes a fight with the casino's security guards.
