Plot summary
Jack Crews served prison time for a crash he caused while driving exhausted, when a black dog hallucination came to him, and his commercial driver's license went with it. He works as a truck mechanic in New Jersey and lives with his wife Melanie and their daughter Tracy. Frank Cutler, who runs the repair shop, offers him ten thousand dollars to drive a load from Atlanta to New Jersey. The bank is about to foreclose on the house, so Jack takes the job. In Atlanta, Red offers him a new rig; Jack picks an older Peterbilt instead. Earl rides along, and Sonny and Wes follow in Sonny's car. On the road, armed men try to take the load, and Jack has not asked what he is hauling.
