Plot summary
Barbara Worth's settler parents die crossing the California desert, and Jefferson Worth takes in the orphaned child and raises her. Fifteen years afterward, Willard Holmes arrives as the engineer in charge of a company's plan to divert the Colorado River and water the desert. He meets Barbara and is drawn to her. Abe Lee, a cowboy in the area, becomes his rival for her affections.
